Frequently Asked Questions

✈️ Do I need a passport to travel to Costa Rica?
Yes — a valid passport is required! If you don’t have one, apply here. Routine processing takes 4-6 weeks, but you can expedite it to 2-3 weeks for an extra $60 fee.

🌎 Should I consider Global Entry or TSA PreCheck?
If you’re planning more international trips (or hate waiting in long customs lines), Global Entry is a game-changer! It costs $120 for 5 years and includes TSA PreCheck — saving you time on both departure and re-entry to the U.S.

💰 What currency does Costa Rica use?
Costa Rica’s official currency is Colón (CRC), but U.S. dollars are widely accepted. Some credit cards may charge a small international transaction fee — check with your bank before you go.

📲 Will my phone work in Costa Rica?
Most major U.S. carriers offer international data and calling plans. We recommend contacting your provider to confirm coverage and pricing.
For a free alternative, WhatsApp works great for messaging, calls, and video chats over WiFi!

🛬 Which airport should I fly into?
The closest airport is Liberia Guanacaste Airport (LIR) — and we’ll arrange transportation to the resort from there.
San José Airport (SJO) is an option too, but transportation from that airport is the attendee's responsibility (and it’s about a 4-hour drive to the resort).

🧳 Do I need a travel visa?
Nope — U.S. citizens do not need a visa for Costa Rica! Just your passport and a sense of adventure.

🔒 Should I get travel insurance?
Yes! While travel insurance isn’t required, we highly recommend it to protect your investment. Look for a plan that covers trip cancellations, delays, medical emergencies, and lost luggage. Popular providers include Travel Guard, Allianz, and World Nomads — or you can check with your credit card company, as some offer coverage too!

💸 What is the refund policy?

• $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot.

• Early bird pricing is available until May 31st — after that, prices increase by $50.

• Full payment is due by August 31st, 2025.

• If you need to cancel after August 31st, payments are non-refundable (but transferable to another guest if you find someone to take your place).
